WOAH. HUGE LONG EARTHQUAKE RIGHT NOW. Freaky.

ETA: SCEC says 5.8. 4 mi SE of Diamond Bar, CA. That's about... 40 or so miles away from here. And so about accurate. It was a LONG one, more rolly than jerky but it made everything sway a lot, and by far the biggest we've felt around here in years.

ETA2: Constant aftershocks, some of which are plenty large enough to feel, make me just feel.... kinda dizzy.

Anyway, it's interesting that there have been several over 3 eqks today. Central California (oh that was late last night), Reno, Barstow, and this one and all it's aftershocks. Hmmm.

Yeah, figured you might feel it. Given that it was soooo long, that means it probably had a wide range too. Give how far east of me it was, you guys are probably only a bit over double the distance from there to epicenter as from here to epicenter.

I'm wondering if we're in for anything bigger (see ETA2).

Josh's parents called, they've had enough shaking in the past 24 hours to start doing some damage again up in Reno. I don't think this was a foreshock, but we'll see. With any luck, it'll take the pressure off of the southern end for a while.

Sounds like you're okay, though, right? Maybe the quake will scare off your brother-brought fleas.

Yeah, I'm okay. Still can't get a hold of my parents as the earthquake apparently fucked with lots of phone lines. But it was relatively gentle for being as large as it was. Just a bit scary as it was so long, and you never know if they're going to get bigger.

And yes, my brother should pay for the exterminator. But fat chance of that ever happening.

NO ONE notices the fleas unless they're pointed out. They just don't bite anyone but me. Hmpf.

Not for certain. But it's possible. Given the empirical evidence that fleas jumped on me in two places he'd just vacated.
