my first poll!!!
Jan. 14th, 2007 10:17 pmi hate when i work all weekend. cuz then i have no weekend. and that is not fun. remember when i said how not fun i'm going to be? probably not cuz no one really reads this. but yeah, notfun!karen has arrived. you may not notice the difference. mostly cuz i post when i'm grumpy anyway. tho i'm not. not really. just feel cheated out of a weekend. and also my stomach hurts. but my stomach usually hurts. now just more than usual. blech.
i'm feeling a serious need for retail therapy. for me that mostly means shoes. not in the girly way. cuz it's all about the Chucks for me. when i need a pick me up, i buy canvas sneakers. that's how much not chick-like i am. and seeing as how i bought two pairs less than a month ago, (to be fair, actually neither of them WERE canvas, one pair suede onestars, other pair gray pinstripes that aren't canvas, but just sorta fabric) so it's totally unjustified right now. but thrice in as many days conversations about ye olde Converse have come up in lj communities (and wow i think i need a Doctor Who/Torchwood "my fandom wears chucks" icon) and i've got the itch.
what's odd is at the top of my list right now isn't unique or really hard to find, but is a simple pair of maroons. dunno if hightop or lowtop, tho. i was always a hightop kinda girl and sorta scoffed at the lowtop wearers (they were very trendy with the "A-listers" in high school, for example) but sometime in recent years, lowtops have been creeping into my collection of "specials" and finally with my last every-day pair i made the full-time-ish switch to lowtops after about half my life in hightops. now in the past i've been wearing my everyday pair till they wear out. usually about 2-3 years before they get really really unpresentable. but now, i'm thinking, i can switch. i can have more than one everyday pair. i can get a new pair of normal-ish Chucks, yeah? hence the maroon. or maybe just natural. two of the classic colors and i've never had either. but for some reason classic colors are expensive and never go on sale. even at the outlet store they were the most expensive. and honestly, i don't believe i've EVER paid 45.99 for a pair of em.
so anyway.
