Going to bed at 3am and waking up at 6:30? Bad idea. Even with rolling around in bed from 8 to 9:30? Still not a good idea.

It's my fault, I shouldn't have stayed up so late, but wtf? WHY can't I sleep?!!?!? I even put up curtains a few weeks ago to help block out some sunlight in the mornings but it hasn't helped. It's only going to get MUCH worse as it gets hotter. God help me if I ever actually get a job

Which of course I've been bad about today and haven't even looked. I had my offbrand Cinnamon Toast Crunch, watched Grey's Anatomy, and caught up on the flist. Now I must attend to some other fannish responsibilities.

Oh! My fancypants wire came yesterday! And after some fiddling, I got it to work, with the picture from laptop to tv! My tv is square, though, and my laptop widescreen so it doesn't work to simply mirror the desktop. Instead I have to do that extend thing, where it's like having a bigger monitor. Like I can drag icons onto my tv and stuff. It's neat because it can have it's own (square-er) resolution. I keep it at it's highest which means it's almost impossible to read text, but playing video files is no problem. My tv is 20 or 22 inches or something, a nice CRT Sony Vega Trinitron. VLC files play awesome at full screen. Look like dvds, honestly. Avi files a little less so, but watchable.

So now must decide if when [livejournal.com profile] missperkigoth is here in two weeks if we'll watch Doctor Who on my normal desktop monitor or on the telly. What fun. Though it's going to be interesting watching new Who with someone else. I've never ever done that!

Oh, speaking of which... is the show being skipped for Eurovision on the 24th? Because I'm in Phoenix that weekend for a wedding. I HOPE it's skipped. Eeeeek. AND i have a wedding the following Saturday as well, but I think it's more of an evening affair, so it should be all right.

Right, anyway, I said I was going to go do stuff, right?

Radio Times only has as far out as the 16th right now. The BBC Press Office release regarding the Eurovision contest says that it's airing at 8 pm - which theoretically would not affect the airing of the episode, but would overlap the Confidential, although a) the ESC isn't airing on BBC Three, and b) I don't know if they'd care about overlapping the Confidential. Presumably we should be able to find out next week.

I'm not bothered about missing the Confidential. Let them preempt. Or whatever, let them preempt the show too, that would work best for me, so I won't have to worry. I've taken precautions, though, so that I should probably, hopefully not have to be too delayed in my viewing of it if they're not taking the week off.

Oooh...I was wondering when the skipped week would come in. The 24th would be FANTASTIC for me too - that's the night I have Phantom of the Opera tickets. I was already worrying about how to squeeze my episode viewing in that night. *crosses fingers*

Ooooh! I love Phantom! I'd prefer it was skipped, but I've booked a hotel for easier access and more quiet time than I'd get staying at my friend's house so that I might be able to watch it in a semi-timely manner. Just my luck, I bet it WILL be skipped anyway.

How rad would it be for me to bring my new pretty best friend? Sadly, I can't justify hauling an HDTV on a road trip. :-(

our BIG Vega in the living room has front input S-Video and RCA's... we can play with that if my parents leave us alone. :)

In fact, I should try that, see if it works all right.

Yes yes yes!!! :-) I have to bring something nice for them too, like some foodies or summat.

I just tested it out. It works very well. Even a standard avi file is pretty watchable on the big tv. So maybe we can do it that way if my parents aren't around to bug.
