Continues to be weird. I haven't reviewed properly in a few weeks. Extenuating RL circumstances and all that.

I'll say, though, that I think this show derailed sometime before this three-parter, and that really kind of makes me sad because it had been getting better every episode.

I really don't understand what all this stuff with Owen is meant to be. Did ANYthing change between this week and last week? Ok, in the course of the episode, yeah. He got all emo, then found some sort of happy alien gizmatron and is cheerful again, wants to help people. But... he's still dead, yeah? Made of glass? WTF? Um... how long can they keep that up? I want this resolved not just another quirky thing about the Torchwood crew. Oh, I know, use the dead guy!

I was really expecting sometehing HUGE to be behind those doors. The music, the setup... Something that would affect the rest of the show, maybe even start the crossover into DW. But all there was what the weird gizmatron and the odd old dude. Maybe there is more to the heart-looking thing than meets the eye. But I really don't get it. What is it about the singing, anyway?

Ok, and can I just say: I'm Liz Parker and five days ago I died. After that, things got really weird.... That's the first line of the pilot episode of Roswell. This is the last: I'm Liz Parker and five days ago I died. But then the really amazing thing happened. I came to life.

It felt for a moment that the writer of this ep pulled lines straight out of Roswell. A bit coincidental if you ask me.

Sorry. Anyway. I liked the music? I'm sure it's like Owen's Theme or something. But it's pretty and appropriately dramatic. I just feel like this episode, and the last a little bit were a bit more floundering. Less tight script and plot-wise. Developments, if you can call them that, leave me more headscratchy than anything.

Other oddities:

-The choral in Jack's office. I know it's been there before, because I've read about it, but I've never actually noticed... it seemed particularly prominent this episode. Which is why i thought it might be something BIG behind old dude's doors.

-How hard is it to come up with different names on this show? The old dude was something Harker, wasn't he? And Maggie? Uh...it sounded like Harper to me. Like Owen. It might not have been, but if it wasn't, it was close.

-Uh. Martha? With the kissing? Wha? I loved Jack's wtf-ness. Does that put to rest any Jack/Martha fics floating about? Nah, probably not. People see what they like. But was more weird than amusing. Didn't seem like the time (or the kind of episode) for that sort of joke or lighthearted moment.

-Tosh is still making with the I love yous even after the smackdown from dead!Owen. Ok, i'll give her points for persistence. I just don't really see where they can go from here with this. More headscratching. Also, would she really have sauntered into his place with pizza and a beer? I kinda think not.

-Almost no Gwen this week? I find it odd that there isn't even an inkling of Gwen supporting Owen. He clearly was the one she went to back in the day when things got way confusing and dark.

-Ianto's comment on how things are with Jack. Kinda confusing. Is it more or less than what Owen was implying. Wtf?

-Jack was looking decidedly haggard this week. What's up with him, I wonder?

Er, so... I just don't know what to make of Torchwood these days. Because I liked most of the first half of the season so much, I'm really hoping they pull it together for the last few episodes. So far, with the disappointment of these last few, S2 is in danger of slipping back below S1 on karen's quality-o-meter, and I don't want that to happen!

Also, can someone PLEASE effing release the start date for DW S4 before I 'splode? Please? And do it without releasing more spoilers? That'd be great.

At least it hasn't descended to the level of crack that is Last of the Time Lords; be grateful!

(And for the record, I enjoyed this week's episode more than last week's; and the more I see of Owen the more I like him. It's weird.)

I liked this week better than last's as well. Slighty less confusing, but still rather odd. It's not cracky, it's just... weird.

My guess:

Owen: You've slept your way up the ladder.

Ianto: Any ladder climbing was perfectly accidental.

Hmmm. I suppose that makes sense.
