I'm sure some of you can commiserate:

Oh, oh, oh oh oh helpless

Helplessly trapped in a body
I'm sure -
Should have never been mine.
I bet that my real one's
Doing just fine - and i
Don't belong here, i
Don't belong here ...

Oh, oh, oh oh oh helpless

Aye, I can empathise to a certain degree.

(Where'd you get the picture of the Doctor in your header? He looks more depressed and withdrawn than usual in it, God love him.)

which header? I have 4 that rotate. The one of him alone? That's from a cap from "Evolution of the Daleks"...in the theater, towards the end. Bit of photoshopping out the background, of course.

It's the one with the "he's fire and ice and rage" speech from The Family of Blood, so I suspect it's the Evolution of the Daleks screen-cap.

(I love the Gallifreyan background to that, by the way.)

Yup, that's the one. Thank you. I think I made the background out of mixed up elements from graphics on the DW website. I was intending it to be part of a background, but it works better smaller, as a header.

He does look rather sad, doesn't he? Well, we all know what kind of place he was in during that episode. Poor Doctor. *pets him*

Yup, small is beautiful. (I don't know how to do headers, they're beyond my creative capability I think.)

It's a classic kicked-puppy look, isn't it? Not surprising, really, when he's coming to terms with the fact that, again, the Daleks have one-upped him and they're still not completely gone.

Aww, probably not if you give it a go. Do you make icons at all? I could probably try my hand at making you something, if you like.

I know. As kind of not good as those episodes were as a whole... DT turns in such a performance. And the pain the Doctor is going through there is so visceral. It's like you can see his poor heart(s) breaking all over again.

Icons are easy(ish) - I made the one I'm using for this comment, f'r example.

It's the HTML that's the tricky part, I reckon, plus the fact that my talents lie in the written word and not in making headers!

The heartbreak is because he knows, beyond doubt (whereas he'd only suspected before) that he's lost his love for absolutely nothing, as the Daleks are still not gone. (RTD had better not find us a Cyberman for S4 or I will cry. I swear, I will cry.)

I REALLY don't want to see Daleks or Cybermen for a LONG time.

Gah, I know. That moment in the sewer when he first sees the Dalek is so painful. The poor Doctor can never get a break. As soon as he finally lets her in, begins to love her properly, she gets torn away, for nothing. Damn RTD and his cursed handle on my heartstrings!!!

Now we've seen the Cult of Skaro, I actually wouldn't mind seeing Daleks again. Daleks, weirdly enough, I can live with.

Cybermen, though, not so much. One, or the other, I can handle. Both, again, after Doomsday? No.

Yup. The two Dalek episodes may as well have been called Elegy for a Rose, because so far as he was concerned I doubt there was anyone else on his mind. (If there had been, we'd not have seen him asking them to kill him; that I am absolutely certain of.)

Damn RTD and his cursed handle on my heartstrings!!!

It could have been worse. He [RTD] could have killed Rose completely. That would have produced a Ten to make the one we see in Season Three look like a baby angel.
