I tried an experiment with SIRIUS radio thanks to a tip from [livejournal.com profile] requialexa. We both have Dish Network which gets SIRIUS channels, and in that bunch is Radio 1. So, since the Kylie Minogue Christmas Special (starring you know who) was on at 1300 gmt, I set my DVR to record from 5-7am and went to bed. So making my oatmeal this morning, I turn it on to listen, and get excited because it starts with the tale end of The Pogues' "Fairytale of New York" (no longer banned). But as it continues, a DJ says "It's just gone 8oclock..." So that means, it's not live. It might be delayed to broadcast at East coast time, given that (that is, a 5 hour delay). So I could check again at 10am. The listen again feature isn't working for that particular snippet. *grumbles*

All this modern technology and I can't even have DT's voice for Christmas? What's up, Santa?

ETA: I was right, it's like live on tape. 5 hour delay. So whenever East Coast = time it aired GMT, that's when whatever airs. Weird.

Well, I listened live for a bit on the BBC website and then had a nap and I've listened and now I'm recording it and you know, it must only be a single sentence that DT speaks because I think I've listened to enough of the broadcast by now that I should've at least glimpsed his voice! I listened to a fair bit of the second hour this morning and a fair bit of the first hour today. I missed the first 20 minutes...was that it? Did I miss it? Did you get it?

It's somewhere in the last half hour. A segment before "Fairytale of New York" and a segment after, and I think that's it.
