OMG. There was a scene that took place....i dunno, the very beginning of Daleks in Manhattan where Martha asks for another trip, the scenic route home.

WHY was this cut out? I think this was very important for stuff like...oh, i dunno CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT or how 'bout explaining the whole same clothes thing. Or the Doctor really WAS going to take her home thing.

Sheesh. Sometimes i just do not understand the choices this production team makes. That and the cut of the extended "standing on chairs" scene at the end of EotD. Why the powerful, emotional stuff ends up on the cutting room floor is beyond me.

Got to disk two of the video diaries. I think i like them all in one block better. But at least they're in order. Also, i'm a bit ded of the adorableness. Oh, and it was nice to see a place I recognized in Warwick. Yay.

ALSO? Big squee for the inside cover of Doctor/Master "screwdriver pointing of hottness" (that's a [livejournal.com profile] missperkigoth quote, btw).

I don't understand some of the cuts from the past season either. Once you see the episode(s) after seeing the deleted scenes, a lot of the time things that were left in make so much more sense for seeing the cut bits. Gah!

Want! My! Boxset! Now! ::cries::

which is why i was at the store at 10am. I has no patience!

There were two cuts I was really unhappy with, from what I saw. Everything else was just about right. Well, no make that three. There was a scene cut from FoB that was shamefully excised.

They wanted to get to the exciting, exciting pig slaves right away. Forget the season arc!

Yeah, apparently. God those eps could have been handled a lot better. At least they ended up cutting a bunch of unimportant Tallulah stuff.

But yo, it was like a minute long scene! They could have cut something else. Ugh.

I know! How do they decide this crap? I remember it was mentioned in an interview somewhere -- RTD was all, "Yeah, there was a TARDIS scene explaining why they were going to New York, but we decided to jump right into the action! Oh well!" Um. There were MANY OTHER PLACES where that story could have been improved. Ditching a TARDIS scene (I love TARDIS scenes!) was not one of them.

(I haven't seen it yet -- need to leave myself something to look forward to at Christmas. But does it really imply that Martha hasn't slept since Shakespeare? Seriously, how about a shower and a nap and a change of clothes?)

They're in the Tardis and he says something like "one trip to the past, one trip to the future, as promised," and seems to be setting coordinates for home a few minutes after they left. And she's all coyly suggetsing that maybe they don't go home right away.

So yeah, I guess they are implying that she hasn't slept since then. I don't know how she kept her hair so perfect, really.

At first, when the eps aired, I thought it must have been something that was totally overlooked--the clothing thing. But no, it was clearly deliberate. You even hear Freema talking a bit about it in her studio tour when they see Martha's costumes.
