Feb. 13th, 2007 09:35 pmwhy do they say "The PCH" on Veronica Mars? is that so people not from california or the western part of the country will understand that it's a highway or whatever?
i remember they did this the last time the road was a part of the story. did i comment on it then? probably.
the ep on today was filmed in a part of campus i walked thru today and never have before, which is kinda funny. i recalled a hallway i thought was the mission once, cuz it's set up just like it. it was built in 1937 according to the plaque on the wall, so maybe they were modeling it after it. whatevers.
it's just weird. it's just PCH. which maybe is odd in it of itself, since we say "the 5" or "the 101" where other places people say "I-10" or whatever. but it's probably because "highway" is part of the name.
yes things like that intrigue me.
tonight i asked a woman in class where she was from. her response was "england" and i'm like duh, i'm not retarded. i wanted to know where in England, since i'm studying the accents. and by studying, i just mean i have an odd keen interest for no good reason. but i've always been taken with things to do with language, why its different in different places. she's from London, by the way, which i also knew, but i didn't want to go "where in london" cuz then she might have thought i was weird.

Date: 2007-02-15 11:12 pm (UTC)And I know what you mean about a enjoying the study of the various regional dialects in England. When I traveled there back in the late 90's I really enjoyed being exposed to all the different dialects and then learning how to determine where they belonged geographically in the UK. Much fun!
