karenori just today listened to the audio commentary for "The Runaway Bride" with David Tennant and Julie Gardner. I wanted to wait for some time to pass so that i wasn't so emotionally invested in it (read: so i wouldn't cry too much again), but not too much that i would have forgotten what was going on and feel compelled to listen more to the episode than the commentary. a month and a half seemed an appropriate length. plus it gave me some fannish delight to delve into when i seriously needed some. what am i going to do for the next few months to tide me over? i dunno. but i do have the S2 dvds which i've barely cracked (i've been thru the first disc, but i've seen most of the fun special features, tho). i guess it's good that i have little time these days.
some random nonspecific stuff about "The Runaway Bride" and "Doomsday" below. i'm too lazy to cut.
the commentary was good. not quite as...what's the word i'm looking for...specific? i dunno. there was more talk about shooting schedules and Catherine Tate and the like. i wanted more character introspection, i suppose. But we did get to hear DT call Rose the love of the Doctor's life, which is always nice. They didn't comment on the saying the planet's name thing either. which is something i thought fanboy David would have commented on.
oh, and i caught little bits of the S3 trailer (which i've been avoiding like the plague) because they were talking over it and i wanted to hear. i covered my eyes for most of it, but saw one of the big reveals. something i didn't care to know, but i'm not especially surprised, so i don't feel bad about being spoiled.
i really hope we get a lot of commentaries by him as the show airs. i like Julie too. she's so into it. her "hurray"s are really cute too. almost as cute as RTD's.
you know, the whole airing things in one block is really fantastic when it's happening, but the wait between serieses? gah. it's torture! and i do wish there were more episodes per series too. how is it that there's such a disparity? norm in US is 22. and it's 13 in the UK (from what i gather). of course all the norms are changing around here. Lost is airing the second part of the season (which they call a new season altogether) in a block of 16 episodes. But they're changing their time to 10pm on wednesdays, which means i'm usually not going to stay up for it, i think. i dunno. maybe.
Anyway. TRB made my shippy little heart do some flipflops all over again. Even barely listening to the actual episode (aww especially the end). i wish they'd said something about the shirt on the rail hinting at possible Doctor/Rose smutty shenanigans. some sort of confirmation...they had to know we'd all be thinking it. but then, i suppose commentaries are supposed to be all-ages too, i guess. oh well oh, what's funny is that DT said they reshot the first part of the episode (well the first part of it on the Tardis), which was the last part of Doomsday, and acted it in the exact same way (even had a dvd player on set), but correct me if i'm wrong, wasn't he crying at the beginning of that scene in Doomsday? and they also said they didn't think anyone would notice it had been reshot. obviously they don't know the fangirls too well. and the fact that DT looks totally different. which i can't seem to figure out. but he does.
anyway. i suppose i should retreat from fannish pleasantries and return to the real world. but i SO don't wanna. how long till new Who?

well, see. i'm pretty firmly in the "they haven't" camp. except i'm still a bit thrown by the whole baby thing. because i think the writers definitely intended it to be ambiguous there. otherwise there's no point in having a line about Jackie being pregnant. it's pretty throwaway. so what i'm saying is they want us to be going have they/haven't they. for sure RTD knows the older fans are a bunch of pervs...and he KNEW clothing strewn about haphazardly would lead to...thoughts. also, to clarify my ship stance is that they haven't, but oh so want to. It's all about the UST. and reuinion fic where it's resolved. point is, it fits in canon either way. i think.
