Jun. 16th, 2005 02:17 pmdamn. ANOTHER earthquake. on a direct northwest line from the one on the weekend, about the same size, about 75 miles closer to LA, but i still felt it (even tho its 120 miles away). a 5.3 in Yucaipa
and there was that big one up north, but that's less likely related. i just find it weird that things are so active when they haven't been in so long. hmmm.
edit: its somehow comforting that my friends, 160 miles away, feel the same earthquake. awwwww.

Date: 2005-06-16 11:24 pm (UTC)yes, i believe the quake was on the San Andreas, and at or near one of the predicted likely places of rupture for the "big one".

Date: 2005-06-16 10:24 pm (UTC)i heard some say it's a foreshock to something larger.
then i think of all the rumors about Cali sliding into the ocean...
but amazingly i'm not too worried. (sure, the tsunami bit freaked me out just a tad...)

Date: 2005-06-16 11:30 pm (UTC)it made a yahoo headline tho. i think cuz it was the third sizeable one in a week. yahoo says 4.9, the scec says 5.3. i trust them more. this is the page i always go to.
http://www.data.scec.org/recenteqs/Quakes/quakes0.html
i can always tell i haven't hallucinated an eqk when the page won't connect.
