Sep. 29th, 2003 10:48 pmmy eyes have gotten worse. again. it's only the astigmatism that's changing, not the nearsided ness. So as i figure it, every day, my eyeballs more and more resemble footballs. but it got kinda scary when on my left eye she put the new perscription lens on the gizmatron and asked me to read the smallest line. i could, but it was kinda fuzzy and she said it was "the best we can do". i'm like WHA!! i think she meant that the next one up would be too strong or something. i hope that's what she meant. and though i knew this already, she confirmed that i can't wear regular contacts due to my deformed eyeballs. and contact lens exams at kaiser cost $109, anyway. blech. and the glaucoma test (purple poker test) hurt, even with the numbing eye goo. you'll be happy to know that my eyes are 'healthy'.
whatevers. at least i got a nice doc. most of the eye docs there are surly fat men. she was none of that. very cheery and informative. my mom also went to the eyedoc today too, and she informed me that our insurance plan pays for $150 of a pair of glasses. Which i never knew. i've always gone to private outside companies. but kaiser spike their prices up way high on the frames (and the lenses are separate anyway) so that they end up costing the same or more anyway, even with the 150 off. i need all sorts of extras cuz my perscription is so high (like superduper lightweight lenses) that i usually go to the cheapo places. used to be frame n' lens, then they changed to vista optical...and now they've moved too, and haven't been replaced with a similar chain store. i may have to go all ghetto and go to target or jcpenny. eeep!
i realize how this is absolutely no interest to anyone. but this is my journal. so there :)
i did end up asking for a spot in the graduate reading series at my school, but i am desparately hoping the spots are all taken!
i have to write a poem for tomorrow. i hate tuesdays for this reason. i always get all bummed and frustrated. blech.
