karenorUm. Er. What can I say that won't be spoilery? Probably nothing. So...
First and foremost. What. The. Fuck. Timetot? Hokiedokie. Is she Amy's? Is she the Doctor's? Is she River's? Is she, somehow, the Doctor?
I just wrote some very negative stuff that I deleted. Basically, I'm not liking stuff. I love the Doctor, I like each character, the arc as it exists already... not so much. I feel it's too early for this much mystery. Especially as there was plenty left over from last season.
River's story, try as I might, just doesn't make sense. There is no way to wrap my head around their parallel but in opposite directions timelines. And for all that she knows they're going backwards, she'd always have known that at some point, she'd kiss the Doctor and it'd be his first time. She shouldn't have look so surprised (Also, the last time we saw her, this would have already happened, for her...I think..., which I guess wouldn't make much difference to now!River). But at least they qualified their relationship as definitely romantic. And they were cute in that...Silence machine thingy from the Lodger.
And whatever really... I like River for who she is now (which btw, a huge leap from how I felt pre-S5), but I'm not particularly interested in finding out WHO SHE IS.
Ugh, I'm all over the place. I'm busy and I have to leave soon, and I don't feel I can give this a proper review. Basically, I enjoyed the episode. Quite a bit, actuallyexcept for parts that were very reminiscent of episodes of other shows. But was left feeling annoyed, rather than intrigued. Kinda like how Lost always made me feel. I feel something is being forced here, rather than... becoming.
Subtle, this isn't, I guess. *shrug* S'pose we'll see how it all plays out. Also, Amy and Rory are terribly cute. I should have an icon of them being cute.
I may watch again before next week and have different/more thoughts. I managed a quick rewatch of the first episode before seeing this one, which was probably a good idea.
