A STRONG RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE ACROSS THE WESTERN STATES WILL CAUSE TEMPERATURES ALOFT OVER SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TO CONTINUE TO RISE OVERNIGHT AND MONDAY...WITH LITTLE CHANGE EXPECTED THROUGH TUESDAY. AT THE SAME TIME...WEAK OFFSHORE FLOW AT THE SURFACE WILL HELP DELAY THE ONSET OF COOLING SEABREEZES MONDAY.THIS SHOULD ALLOW TEMPERATURES TO SOAR TO NEAR OR ABOVE RECORD LEVELS ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA MONDAY AND AGAIN TUESDAY.

HIGH TEMPERATURES ON MONDAY WEST OF THE MOUNTAINS ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM THE 70S TO MID 80S AT THE BEACHES...TO THE 90S ACROSS INLAND SECTIONS OF THE COASTAL PLAIN...INCLUDING DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES...TO THE MID 90S TO AROUND 105 IN THE VALLEYS.

(all of these places are close by to me. pierce college being the closest) yeah, it is hot. 90 already when i woke up this morning, and around 93 right now, 10:30 in the morning, expected to get to about 107 by midday)

i saw pictures. i think i should move to colorado. i hate heat with a (pardon the expression) fiery passion.

p.s. i got your postcard! that was so thoughtul. :) and yes, i've gone thru about half the teas...but in this heat...not drinking lots of hot teas. and yes, your package is still in process. ;k

Just a warning--it can get really hot here too. Especially the last few summers, we've had streaks of 100 degree days for like a month or more at a time. That's unusual for us but it still seems to keep happening! I hate it.

I think that it's snowed at least once in every month of the year since I've lived here though. I remember doing concerts in the snow in June, July, August and September. Weird Colorado weather!

it snowed once here...in 1990. i never saw it, but everyone else seems to have. that's how different our weather is. when we get heatwaves in the summer, it's been known to get into the 100teens. winter or spring heatwaves are from the 90's-100's

i'd love to come visit like in the middle of winter in a blizzard or something. do be in real heavy snow. that would be fun. ;) but if i drive, winter=no good, cuz the way is all mountainy (at least the last part...that is, the part closest to you) and snowy in winter.

The sad thing is, it's so hard to predict when it's going to snow here. Even when they "know" a storm is coming, half the time it only sprinkles or snows lightly where we are. Then when we get the hard-hitting storms, they come unexpectedly so often. So you wouldn't be able to come here in the middle of a blizzard even if you tried! Everything melts away by the next day anyway.

But come visit anyway when I get a house! Rah!

in the meantime, since you posted with a roswell icon...help me think of a song lyric that has to do with the fear of the unknown. i'm working on an icon with isabel holding michaels hand (in the balance, the ep where michael gets sick from the sweatlodge and has visions) over which is superimposed the map of symbols. for ros_challenge, the challenge this week is just to work with the emotion fear. and i can't think of a stupid lyric. you know everyone and their mama is gonna use the sarah m. song. which doesn't work for me anyway.

i'm a feelin it. man. i'm the city next to Burbank, and woo...i hate it when the breeze is hot. opening the windows is a false promise of coolness.
