karenorDare I begin a review? I'm barely coherent as it is, not even factoring in show squee. I feel like i watched the show in a daze...
Um. information overload. Not that I'm complaining. I'm glad they stuffed so much in. It was just...a lot. And some of it didn't make much sense. Some of it, a bit too easy, but still awesome.
Um lemme see. Jack saying he worked for Torchwood. I wish this was a little more of a big deal, but yeah, no time. The Doctor explaining why he couldn't sense the Master? Well...ok. That's the part I meant was easy. Traveling back from 100 trillion? That was perfect. I was hoping it'd be that easy. He chose his own name! Fucking awesome! Am I mistaken or is this brand spanking new canon? Um the thing with the standing before the thing when they were 8 years old. Also a lovely insight into the Doctor and his culture. "I never stopped!" Oh how marvelous. That whole phone conversation when he told the Master what was up? Also, pretty damn great.
But really, the Time Lords resurrected the Master? Really? Now admittedly I'm sketchy on the Master's history, having only read a lot of stuff and seen the Movie, but that really really doesn't sound like something they'd do. Unless the did it so HE could be the one to destroy everything. And only if they didn't know the Destroyer of Worlds would survive. And what's the cruciform, anyway?
the..."It's kinda like when you fancy someone..."? Ok, while Jack's reaction was GOLDEN, i think that the fact that the Doctor said it was kinda effed up. He knows that she fancies him. It was funny, but really struck me as odd.
Poor Tardis!!!! I was so sad. I don't know wtf a paradox machine is, but i'm assuming that's what ripped open the sky? And the fact that the Doctor heard it? Was she calling to him?
Aging the Doctor! wtf!!! I wonder if that was the same prosthetic as for FoB? It looked different. And the hair was different, of course. But does this mean that Time Lords actually age somewhat normally? I always thought they didn't (at least after their first life)...i mean, how else would he be over 900? Or was it just something the device did? I wonder how the heck he'll get out of that one. I hope it happens early in the finale, though. I want him to be all hot and righteous in his own face whenever he defeats the Master.
Speaking of which. the "I want to save him." oh just...*hearts* Is this compassion? Seems to be. Is it just not wanting to be alone? He did offer to take him away and travel the universe. But how could he think they could ever get along? Does he want him to say, maybe, help rip open reality and go get Rose? ok, i know, that's my shipper heart talking. Still I'm curious about it. I'm completely unspoiled now (pretty much), but given the title of the last episode? i dunno. i'm thinking demise might be in the works.
and ok. who didn't know Martha was going to save the world? Alright, she hasn't yet (and I haven't even seen the trailer for next week yet), but I could have told you that a while back. RTD has the gay equivalent of a Mancrush on that character. Hard. For apparently little reason. Ok, maybe she'll redeem herself. I really had no complaints about her in this episode. None. I liked that she defied the Doctor to go try and help her family. But that's about it. I think I can say, almost all the way through the series now, that she has been entirely lackluster. I don't hate her and I don't love her, and i think it's pretty much a testament to the writing (in general) and the strength of DT as an actor that this season has been SO effing good with one of the two main characters that i'm really really meh about it. Mind you, I think Freema is pretty great. She is pretty adorable. And btw, props to whoever let her get disheveled this week.
Anyhoo. The Flying Balls of Death? Really? I hope these are slightly more interesting next week. I kept thinking they sounded like the Gelth. I'm a bit meh about that too.
Oh, one more thing. I think. Lucy! "I made my choice." omg, his faithful companion! *cries* yeah, ya'll know what i mean. *moreRosesniffles*
