damn that one surviving Dalek! i knew they couldn't be gone for good. but i figured...you know, they could always get rid of them for good, for a little while.

i called the 'splicing in' of Time Lord dna pretty early. Except i thought that's what the Daleks wanted him for.

i was very very very distracted by the maroon chucks. almost took me right out of it. because the stunt double (or possibly DT when climbing, i can't remember without rewatching) was wearing lowtops. and we saw in the first episode that they are hightops. and also, you could see again when he was climbing over seats in the theater. yeah, i notice things like this. it's a sickness, i realize.

tallulah's accent was more annoying this week. as were the 'hybrid' accents of both Sek and the dalekish humans.

every week i think "martha has to be over it by now," and every week, she's not. still pining. at least she's smart enough to see he's not into her that way and won't be cuz he's still very hung up.

that said, i DID really like the sort of under the radar references to Rose and shippy stuff. not just from Martha, but the radio bit at the beginning was practically a shot out.

i did get a wee bit teary when he was yelling at them to kill him. i'm not sure if he was sincere or if he was gambling, but i think the former. i think he's in a similar place to where we found Nine. lost everything, and not a little death wish. but he's different, i think, in the compassion he's grown. Back in School Reunion, he tells Finch that he's lost his compassion. I think this episode proves that he's got it back (rather, he never really lost it). Then gain, i did actually hope he had a trick up his sleeve to kill Kon. I'd have liked to see that darkness and hate for them emerge again. But maybe that wouldn't have been quite in character. No probably not, not after everything that happened with Sek. but i think they could have sold it.

and while we're on stuff that doesn't make sense...why didn't a. the daleks in the theater just shoot the Doctor? or b. why didn't Kon shoot him when they were alone being all quickdraw duelly? i mean, doesn't anyone at any meeting at some point raise a hand and ask? at least gimme a throw away line explaining it.

i liked him saving Laszlo at the end too. Don't quite buy that the Hoovervillians would accept him so easily, but i'll go with that. i got a little teary then too...at the no one else is going to die speech. oh but wait, couldn't he have rigged up something for his face. some sort of plastic surgery? file down the teeth at least? or fuck, take him somewhere that could fix him? is that a ludicrous idea?

lots of gratuitous Doctor in glasses shots. *loves* and the pretty in the theater against the black background. i don't have time to cap now, and i'm sure someone will, but i predict a veritable deluge of icons....

what else? wherever they are in the previews for next week reminds of that place in the DWM. wherever that clock thing was. at least Martha gets new clothes! yay!

all and all, this episode didn't quite pack the punch i'd hoped it would, but it had it's moments for sure.
