Mar. 25th, 2004 01:05 amtonight was very weird. for poetry class we met in the fun reading room cuz real poets were coming to read for us. someone in class suggested a couple weeks ago that we should make it a party with snacks and whatnot. which we did. and someone brought purple tableclothes and a bag full of fresh cut bouganvilla (sp?). and i arranged it. i felt very artistic. i also felt a bit like i had the rocketeer on with two two-liter soda bottles in my backpack. it was an entertaining evening. i informed my thesis director that my proposal was accepted and she was really happy cuz she worked hard on it too. it may be the first time i ever highfived a professor. i asked another professor to be me reader as well, so i just have to come up with one more.
i may get convinced to read my poems at a proper reading. why does that make me SO nervous. i have NO problem reading things in class. put its not a...performance then, i guess. (hollie, i may read with you, cuz the lebanonn poetry girl had to switch dates). i don't think i can get enough stuff together by the 2nd tho. also i wouldn't want anyone to come. yet i'd want everyone to come. yes i am a walking contradiction, thanks for asking.
afterward a few friends and i went out to denny's. which was also odd. its a long story. one of the people who came out is this very odd, very repressed girl who i felt really bad for not recognizing. i met her once at a notschool function, didn't even know she went to my school and when i met her it was like for five seconds and i was sick (it was back when i was dizzy all the time for no apparent reason). she walked in the room, and was all "Karen, hi" like i was supposed to know who the heck she was...anyway, she came out with us. she in love with this other sortof friend of mine who i've hung out with a few times, but still don't know very well. also she wrote a poem ABOUT my best friend (who also came out with us), seemingly about how jealous she was because my friend had this guy she's in love with's attention. yeah, ok, so that only made sense to me. i mean, cuz why include names in here if ya'll don't know the people anyway. so denny's was interesting. i got sparkly stickers (from this possibly psycho girl) and also she gave me a hug. now i'm all for hugging. i'm pretty hugable after all, but this was essentially my first meeting of this girl. and it was only for an hour or so. so a little odd. whatevers.
then my friend and i had a little time for some girltalk (she drove to the denny's, my car was still at school) cuz she has a crush on said guy in previous paragraphy. but a harmless one (so she says), and said guy is also in love with an 18 year old girl with cancer, apparently (not girl in preceeding paragraph). yeah, so i said the night was weird.
i just got home and its after 1. the dsl is working for the moment. so i'm unsure if i should leave it on all night while i attempt to download last weeks Wonderfalls. cuz i left it on last night, and the dsl crapped out after about an hour at 58% (i've been downloading it in little bits whenever the dsl decides to work). now its at 66% with only about 2 hours left. and i really shouldn't stay up much later. i MUST do at least ten entried in my annotated bibliography tomorrow. i need to make myself a schedule. i found another article that actually exists in the school library, so at some point i have to go back there again (!). plus i should go buy a skirt tomorrow for the dinner on friday (tho i don't know if that's required, i may as well try to look conservative). and check me out i even read like the first three scenes of othello....blah di blah di blah.
i do believe i need a wee bit of sleep. computer on or off? i DON'T KNOW. i hate leaving it on at night. cuz the little light bugs the crap out of me. sometimes i cover it with a towel. it scares me when i wake up in the middle of the night too. you must understand how it is for people who are nearly blind as i am. the tiniest ligh can get very big in its halos when i'm without glasses. and when you just wake up, that can be terrifying.
anyway...let this wackiness come to an end. whadaya say?

Date: 2004-03-25 04:23 pm (UTC)I knoooow! I don't cover my computer, but I turn my back from it. Sometimes, in a fit of insomnia, I find myself staring at the green halo coming from the computer.
