fandoms, etc.
Jan. 2nd, 2003 11:10 pmOk, i got this from lacy who got it from pam, who i don't know, but i thank. forgive my lj ineptness as i don't know how to make links of ppl's names easily, nor do i know how to hide an entry beneath a link like lacy does. or even if i can do that. so if this clogs up your friends pages, sue me. :D
without further ado:
Pairings I used to love and now thoroughly detest because they've been so fucked up by both canon and fanon that they are no longer recognizable (a lot of these are more cannon than fannon, as i'm not SUPER into fanfaction anymore):
1. Angel/Buffy, Buffy
2. Buffy/Faith, Buffy
3. Wesley/Lilah, Angel (I'm so OVER it)
4. Fred/Wesley, Angel
Pairings I look at with old affection:
1. Xander/Willow, Buffy
2. Amanda/Rebecca, Highlander
3. Duncan/Methos, Highlander (never very into it, but fun if done really well)
4. Willow/Tara, Buffy
Current pairings I squee over:
1. Buffy/Spike, Buffy (can't help it)
2. Faith/Wes, Angel
3. Amanda/Methos, Highlander
4. Amanda/f, Highlander (very difficult to find, for some reason)
5. Faith/Tara, Buffy (tho you know, i don't think i've ever read any)
6. Willow/Oz, Buffy (i know, i know, it's a SIN. i LOVED W/T, but W/O were PERFECT)
For each of your fandoms, and without reusing anyone if possible, who was the character you most (i'm gonna have to repeat, sorry):
Identified with?
Buffy: Willow
Angel: Angel
Highlander: Methos
Lusted over?
Buffy: Faith
Angel: Cordy
Highlander: Methos (tho Amanda is SO close)
Hated or were thoroughly annoyed by?
Buffy: Buffy, Dawn
Angel: Lindsey
Highlander: Richie
Adored in a platonic sense?
Buffy: Xander
Angel: Fred
Highlander: Duncan
maybe i need more fandoms, eh? well i've delved into other ones here and there, but never lingered long...farscape, some tng and/or voyager, xena, xfiles, etc. but it all gets so standard. fanfic in the buffyverse is the only one that has ever held my attention for long, and it seems to be the most prolific. i get into it in the offseason a lot. highlander is static and unchanging and doesn't really generate much new that isn't male slash, which truth be told i'm not very into. i'm a fanfic snob really. it has to be very good, and hopefully not very long cuz i have a short attention span, and that combination isn't so easy to find. i despise poorly written things, for real. even stuff as trivial as fanfiction. tho i can't write any to save my life, so i shouldn't be so judgemental. shame on me.

Date: 2003-01-03 10:52 am (UTC)How to make someone's lj name appear with the little person/head graphic and a link to their journal:
Lacy does a cool thing where she puts the person's real name and it still shows up with the head graphic and link to their journal, but I don't know how to do that.
An lj "cut" (where you have to click on the link to see the results of a survey or photos or whatever):
...
This can be used in a journal entry to hide part, or all, of an entry. When the entry appears in your journal or on someone's Friends page, everything after an tag and before a closing tag will be replaced by a link to the Read Comments page. The Read Comments page always displays the entire entry as well as any comments made on it. When the is closed with , any text placed after the closing tag will also display on the journal, instead of just on the Read Comments page.
By default, the link will say "Read more", but if you want it to say something else like "Cut off here", you can write the tag as
To add a picture to your post:
Within the code, "http://www.your-website.com/image.jpg" must be replaced by the actual URL of the image you want displayed in your journal entry and "title or description" can be changed to give the image you use a title or description of your choice.
I hope those help!
