afros abound!!!

so i'm watching and old family feud...there is a black family and a white family and EVERYBODY has afros except for the host. i don't know what year this is...it must be late seventies...where they ever really THAT popular?

updated to add: omg. the category was "things you wash once a week" and the second most popular answer was...wait for it..."hair".

I have know a couple of people throughout my life who only wash their hair once a week (or one guy I knew hated to shower so he only did that once a week, if that). Sheesh. Honestly, I only was mine every other day and most people think that's gross enough.

I do think afros were really that popular! And ps--

Circa 1986, when I had my bigass 'fro. It might not look like it's that fro-y but I had half of it kind of tucked away there. It just got bigger and bigger until I finally had it straightened in college.

i can't say as i've every had that problem. my hair has always been straight-ish, and limp. i want it thick and straight, like liz parker straight. that would be fun.

Liz Parker straight would be absolute heaven to me. *gets lost fantasizing about having stick straight, shiny hair* Even when I had my hair "straightened" that just meant it was super-curly and not UBER curly.

i can't even imagine curly curly hair. mine is at time...wavy-ish. its like it can't commit. but i did occasionally straighten it back in the day. i even did it the olf-fashioned way, with an iron. ah fun with bad hair...you should see my hairsprayed bangs from the early 90's...oy vey...

Bangs! I always, always wanted bangs. I'd love to see some pictures of those. You need a scanner!

I still occasionally use a straightening iron. It doesn't really work when I have shorter hair, like now, but it would take hours to do when I had longer hair. It was so nice to feel normal for an afternoon!

duuude. i had bangs my whole life until 9th grade when i started growing them out. i'll look for pictures. i have scanner, actually, my parent's fax/copier/printer/scanner dealio. its just a pain in the arse to use. but i'll look for some gems for you. ;)
