It was short, but powerful, which usually means close but small. Could be large and far away, but then it would be longer.

Turns out it was pretty much, right here (most earthquakes we feel, with the exception of Northridge are centered quite far away). I basically live ON the epicenter of this one, but it was only 3.1. Enough to rattle the house, enough to worry it might get stronger, but it didn't.

What's weird is that there have been quite a few eqks over 3.0 in the past couple days, all throughout California. Hmmm.

WOAH. HUGE LONG EARTHQUAKE RIGHT NOW. Freaky.

ETA: SCEC says 5.8. 4 mi SE of Diamond Bar, CA. That's about... 40 or so miles away from here. And so about accurate. It was a LONG one, more rolly than jerky but it made everything sway a lot, and by far the biggest we've felt around here in years.

ETA2: Constant aftershocks, some of which are plenty large enough to feel, make me just feel.... kinda dizzy.

Anyway, it's interesting that there have been several over 3 eqks today. Central California (oh that was late last night), Reno, Barstow, and this one and all it's aftershocks. Hmmm.
